Today the Coin Dropped and What a Sound it Made!

I've been outside of the Jukebox for a while, and very happy to be back. Being away for two months has given me the opportunity to see something really special; the development of the unique characters in and outside of the Jukebox. The actors are off-book, and with the lines in their heads, they are now able to do something really interesting. What I'm seeing now, rather than just the name of a character on a page, is the complexity and depth that each actor can bring to their alter-ego. Director Steve has a knack of getting each of the actors to dig deep, to experiment, and to bring elements to each character that you just can't feel when you only read the words in a script. Experimenting with various accents, with movement and even with facial expressions, all these things are coming together to make Jukebox Paradise come alive. Today's action took place inside the Jukebox, a special place, that, like the real word, is full of the kind of dramas that make life interesting. Pride, ego, and jealousies are part and parcel of the world of music and musicians. The Jukebox world is no exception, and the actors today brought those emotions to life with passion and a healthy dose of humour and camaraderie. If this is the progress that happened in only two months, I can only imagine the professional and sleek production Steve, Gary, Ashley and all the Jukeboxers are going to have ready in late November. しばらくの間、リハーサルに参加できませんでしたが、今日久しぶりに参加することが出来て、とても嬉しいです。２ヶ月リハーサルから離れたことで、今日のリハーサルは特別な視点から観ることが出来ました。ジュークボックスのキャラクターはより個性的になっていました。役者達はもう台詞をすべて暗記していたので、とても素晴らしいリハーサルを行うことが出来ました。今日見た限りでは、ただそれぞれの役を演じるだけでなく、彼らの持つ別の顔を演技に見せ、「Jukebox Paradise」はより深いものとなって来ています。監督のSteveは役者がより深い演技をするために、どのようにそれぞれの役を解釈し、演技に生かさせるかを熟知しています。この行程を通すことにより、台本を読むだけでは決して分からないないキャラクターの個性を出すことが出来ます。

どんなアクセントで話すべきか、どんな動きや表情がそれぞれのシーンに適しているかを考え、少しずつ変えてゆくことによりJukebox Paradiseに生命を吹き込むことが出来るのです。今日はジュークボックスの中での演技をリハーサルしました。ジュークボックスの中では現実と同じ様に様々なドラマが巻き起こる、不思議で特別な場所です。音楽、ミュージシャンの世界ではプライドやエゴ、そして妬みが付き物ですが、これはジュークボックスの世界でも同じことです。今日のリハーサルにて、役者達はこれらの感情を情熱、ユーモアや友愛により上手く表現することが出来ました。たったの２ヶ月でこんなにも大きな進歩を成し遂げることが出来たので、Steve, Gary, Ashley, そして全てのJukeboxメンバーは公演直前の１１月下旬には素晴らしい公演を迎える準備ができているにちがいありません。ぜひJukebox Pradiseを見に来てください！
